Not sure if BCM would cause just a start issue but electric windows, stereo etc all work with only other issues I have is the passenger door does not work on keyfob for central locking and neither does it work on dashboard control (parts bought to fit).

Would a fault on BCM cause this because I saw no issue with BCM when I took it off car?

Below is what I have done so far;-

  • * Done all plug checks with ECU, ESW, BCM module and also the key fob.
  • * New Battery in fob and had key checked.
  • * Tried another R50 2nd hand ECU, Key, Ignition and ESW but same fault.
  • * Battery is fully charged and checks ok for voltage. E-ZPass® Rhode Island

Any help appreciated.

like your MINI R50 has an immobilizer issue, but since you've already swapped a matched ECU, key, ignition, and EWS with no success, the problem might be wiring, ignition switch, or a sync issue.

Key next steps:

Scan with a BMW-specific tool (INPA/ISTA) to check for EWS-DME sync faults.

Check power and ground to EWS and ECU.

Test the ignition switch — it may not be sending the correct signals.

Check relays and fuel pump operation on crank.

Fixed passenger door with actuator door replacement but still have issue starting with all fuses checked.

Different ECU kit has same issue so will look at checking starter motor but do think it is more immobilizer issue.

Cannot seem to get anyone just to cross the two wires and remove immobilizer

The Mini's no-start issue, persisting after ECU, key, ignition, and EWS replacement, likely points to an immobilizer system fault beyond a simple BCM issue, as other electrics work. Focus on verifying correct ECU coding for replacement units, meticulously checking wiring, inspecting all relevant fuses, and potentially testing the starter directly. Look for E-ZPassNY website immobilizer warning lights. Given the complexity, professional diagnostics with Mini-specific tools is recommended to pinpoint the exact immobilizer problem. The passenger door lock issue is probably a separate concern.
