NOTE: NOT compatible with Cooper non-S or JCW models. For JCW models, see MINI Cooper JCW Drilled & Slotted Rotors.
StopTech® recognizes that great brakes need to look as good as they perform. Performance wheels and tires are best complemented with StopTech® Slotted, Cross-Drilled or Drilled & Slotted Sport Rotors.
StopTech® slotted, drilled and drilled & slotted brake rotors prevent glazing of the pads, add bite and improve wet and dry braking performance.
Every StopTech® Sport Rotor is produced from a high quality Centric Parts® blank casting and finished in a durable e-coating for corrosion resistance.
FEATURES
- Direct replacement, stock-sized rotors that fit stock calipers
- Increased initial bite response
- Improved wet weather response
- Reduced brake pad glazing
- OE vane designs, including casting part line location
- Machining designs engineered for optimal rotor integrity
- Double-disc ground for a consistent friction surface and better pad bed-in
- Mill-balanced for vibration-free performance
- Black e-coating on non-friction surfaces provides lasting, attractive looks
- Enhances open wheel appearance
*E-Coated Finish*
Every SportStop rotor is finished with black e-coating on both sides of the hat, inside the the cooling vanes, and on the outside edge. E-coating is a superior electro-statically applied finish designed to withstand 400 hours of salt water exposure without rusting. This is especially important on both mounting faces of the hat where it touches the hub flange and back face of the wheel. Any accumulation of rust in these area can lead to installed lateral run out issues.
*Power Alloy Metallurgy*
Power Alloy metallurgy is exclusive feature of SportStop rotors. In specific vehicle applications, StopTech works with foundry partners to increase the molybdenum or carbon content of the castings, and to carefully control the cooling rate during production to reach targets for hardness and tensile strength.
*Cooling Vane Design*
Nearly all SportStop cross-drilled rotors have unique drilled hole patterns for the left and right sides of the vehicle. For these directional patterns, straight vane or pillar vane rotors are used to ensure that a drilled hole never touches a cooling vane.
NOTES
MINI recommends the brake fluid be replaced every 2 years. See Mini Cooper Brake Fluid Pentosin DOT4 for replacement brake fluid.

I've found the YouTube Channel Engineering Explained has a very good video on cross drilled/slotted/dimpled rotors. The weight difference for dimpled rotors isn't much - but if you're looking for every last ounce then that is an easy place to look. The best performing brakes are larger diameter rotors and aggressive compound pads - keeping in mind that for the most part - better stopping performance = lower brake life. Most "big brake kits" come with drilled rotors for that sporty look.
