Maniflow's tubular interpretation of the original Mini Cooper and S exhaust manifold manufactured out of the same tubing as the standard bore LCB. This free flow manifold works very well at lower speed pick up. (The LCB is noisier but better at the top end of the rev range on very mild tune cars.) Requires adapter L71 for fitting to Maniflow 1.75" exhaust systems, as this manifold is designed to fit the RC40-001 downpipe for the RC40 system. This manifold requires a longer downpipe as it is shorter than the type used on LCB fitment.
Works well on mildly tuned 998s and 1275s.

One of the easiest bolt-on modifications you can make to your Classic Mini Cooper is a performance exhaust manifold (also often called a 'header') A good exhaust manifold make it a lot easier for your engine to push exhaust gases out of the cylinders. All internal combustion engines produce all their power during the power stroke. During this stroke, the gasoline in the cylinder burns and expands to generate power. As the exhaust gases are pushed out of the cylinder, they end up in the exhaust manifold. The ease at which these gases vacate the cylinder head is a big contributor to performance. The exhaust header helps eliminate the manifold’s backpressure. The length and diameter of the exhaust manifold pipes are all part of the science of performance.

Question:
Restoring a 1966 Austin Mini Cooper S. Need complete exhaust system (including exhaust header). Closer to original than performance.
Answer:
This is the manifold that is as close to original as possible: https://www.minimania.com/part/C-STR816/Austin-Mini-Freeflow-Exhaust-Manifold-Header
And I would personally suggest this for the rest of the exhaust: https://www.minimania.com/part/RC40PACKAGE001/Exhaust-Rc40-Classic-Exhaust-Mild-Steel-And-Fitting-Kit
While it is not "original" it is as close to it as you can get!

Question:
Hi, Will you confirm the OD of the outlet pipe on C-STR816? Your blurb says 1.75" but my example from about 20 years ago has an OD of 1.625 (1 5/8). Thanks,
Answer:

Don't have one in stock to measure, but they are meant to be 1.75" OD

They are offered in 1.5" OD, 1.75" OD, and 1.75" ID and 2" OD

FOLLOW UP QUESTION:  Thanks for the info! I'm now thinking my example is probably 1.75" OD and 1 5/8" ID which would match with your numbers. Would the 1.75" OD unit be the one you include in the 998 Stage 1 kits?

ANSWER TO FOLLOW UP:  Yes, this is the same part as included in the C-STN17 stage 1 kit.

How to pick the correct exhaust manifold for Classic Mini Coopers
Created: September 28, 2000
The third stroke, that following the compression stroke, of our four stroke Mini engine is the only one producing power. The other three consume it. Here we’re looking at with exhaust manifolds, so what we need to consider is how to minimise power consumed on the exhaust stroke as the piston pushes the spent gases out.
