MINI COOPER ENGINE DESIGNATIONS FOR 3RD GENERATION F-SERIES MODELS - 2020 Update

The 3rd generation F-series models were introduced in 2013 with the 2014 F56 Hardtop model. The other body styles were introduced in the following years. They included:

2014 F56 MINI Cooper and Cooper S Hardtop
2015 F55 MINI Cooper and Cooper S Hardtop 4-Door
2016 F57 MINI Cooper and Cooper S Convertible
2016 F54 MINI Cooper and Cooper S Clubman
2017 F60 MINI Cooper and Cooper S Countryman

Both the F56 Hardtop and F55 Hardtop 4-door models were initially  introduced with the B38 1.5 liter 3-cylinder engine for the Cooper and B48 2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine for the Cooper S. However these engines had to be updated to newer US emissions standards so all models switched to the B36 engine for the Cooper and B46 engine for the Cooper S during 2015. These engines were used until the 'facelift'.
