Mini Cooper Engine Mount / Motor Mount Application Guide

The factory original upper engine mount (passenger side of engine) is a hydraulic unit that tends to fail over time.  If you see a black mess under the upper engine mount, the fluid has leaked out and it has failed.

For the following GEN1 models:

• 2002-2006 R50 MINI Cooper and R53 Cooper S Hardtop
• 2005-2008 R52 MINI Cooper and Cooper S Convertible
•  

Rubber is used in the factory original engine mounts to isolate noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) from the cabin. The strengthened engine mounts are made of a stronger composite than rubber, limiting engine movement and allowing for faster power transfer to the axles for better acceleration. In addition, these tougher compounds transfer more NMH into the cabin, necessitating a compromise between comfort and performance. Based on your priorities, choose a substitute.
