It would be nice to see some pictures of my mk1 remote box in your hands. But don't bother just take the best effort you can give it. Scott

Was anyone able to get pdfs uploaded of gearbox manuals? The Haynes manual I have doesn't have any gearbox rebuilding info.

Does anyone know if this Haynes manual covers gearbox rebuilding?

Right now I am rebuilding a 3 syncro remote change, but I'll take what I can get.

That's ironic Chuck as the later 90's Mini's seem to have the worst 2nd and 3rd gear problems so they should have a more detailed gearbox section.

Another video can be found under the Articles tab. Technical Information. Then look in Drivetrain. No idea why it's there. Have asked for it to be moved under the Gearbox section.

Manuals? I do much like CooperTune for rod change. Photos I've taken over the years. Calver's articles from Mini Magazine. Haynes manuals. You need one of the Haynes with the light blue cover. The last two (dark blue covers) and the only ones available new, do not have any gearbox rebuild information.

Thanks everyone I'll look into those manuals.

Red1967 could you email it to me? My email is in my profile.

Thanks

There is a DVD called the Ultimate Mini Builder 1380 A-Series by Bill Sollis that has a good section on the tearing down and rebuilding of the transmission.

Haynes metro workshop manual, or perhaps the later blue haynes mini manual are the best.

The mini trans is really easy. The only thing you could get wrong is one of the synchro hubs is close, but not exactly symentrical - and it is just possible to assemble the whole trans wrong (it won't spin however).

A digital camera is your friend...

It's been fun, but this place is done. I have no hatred, and appreciate the good times. But this place now belongs to Tony and his pink mini.

Hey Bill, when I did my first in 68 all I had was a shop manuel big orange loose leaf. After doing maybe 100 over the years I still keep that close. The rod change boxes are easier to work on. I had to find a newer book and KC's magizine article. I have several to do now, maybe I should get my camera out. Ask if you need help.

I'm not intending this as a smart-ass answer... But I would take it to someone who knows how to do it. This is how I got mine rebuilt. I watched and helped and I even though I think I can remember the steps, just watching once is not enough. There is a video out there (can't find it now) that goes step by step but even with that there are tricks and hints that only an experienced mini tranny rebuilder knows. I would bet there are folks in Fla. who could help.

Thanks
