Well, I guess I should give a quick answer...

Turbo builds or Supercharger: Well, each to their own... the "cheap" supercharger is one from a Mk1 Bini S. This will still need a lot of work to get it to fit - but you can buy a kit. You can suck thru a stock SU carb, (eventually the coating will come off the SC, but you'll have had a lot of fun by then - so it doesn't really matter) which keeps things simple-ish... I think the stock mechanical pump will even work for a SC setup, so it is in theory a more simple system...

A turbo needs a new manifold making (or purchasing), a high-pressure electric fuel pump, a new retun line to the top of the tank, a special fuel regulator, and of course a turbo and a Turbo-spec HIF carb (or modify your own HIF - pretty easy TBH).

The thing is though, you can probably do the turbo for cheaper if you can do work yourself and don't count your own time... If you have little/no fabrication skills and want a "bolt on" answer, then buy a supercharger kit from Vmax in the UK.

Turbo's will always make more HP more easily however, AND are easily upgraded... If you locate and start with a cheap GT12 or GT15 from ebay, you have an upgrade potential all the way to 300hp if you switch to a large-bore engine.

You will struggle to get even 150hp from the BINI supercharger setup (but this is a lot of HP if you are not used to it, of course)!!!

So, I guess it depends on your skills, your wallet, and where you envisage the addiction for boost will take you. :-)

It's been fun, but this place is done. I have no hatred, and appreciate the good times. But this place now belongs to Tony and his pink mini.

As with any engine, you'll probably want to do a compression test and make sure the engine is healthy. I would think a turbo setup would be cheaper and might make a little more power, but I personally like superchargers. The other thing with turbos to consider is how big you want to go. A nice small turbo will give good mid-range, where a large turbo is going to have lag. Blowers OTOH don't have any lag, but also use a small amount of the engine's power to run. I would read up on the turbominis forum, posted above. Also, maybe Spank will give you some pointers. Good luck and keep us updated...

I have a 998 A+ motor and wanted to know the max power i could get out of a supercharger and turbo charger (not together lol) and which would be cheaper to build up I saw that there are supercharger kits but i want to squeeze as much power out of my engine as possible. Also a shopping list if possible too plz.
