Vespa, you are correct. Of course, in the beginning some Austins came with the glass bottle and some Morris snuck out of the factory with plastic bottles, the Mini Minor mostly came with the glass bottle while Austin 7s came with plastic. Many restored 7s have the glass bottle it is not really correct. That bottle and the spark plug caps are the "Holy Grail" items sought after by '59 nuts.

From what I understand the wire bottle holder was continued untill they ran out, as most 60 minis have them and used a plastic bottle. I have also been told that the glass bottle was discontinued before any of the variants went into production.

The car in question has a wire bottle holder, so I assumed it came with the glass bottle. The ancient brake fluid bottle that is serving as washer fluid bottle, while being period correct for an early seventies low budget fix, could be improved. This is a wagon, so early that the battery is in the floor at the back, not under the seat.

Morris didn't have the glass bottle. Traveller probably had the Tudor plastic bottle. Glass bottle was only on some, not all, 1959 Austin Minis.
Most people just search for a suitable size jam jar to use with the repro brackets. Typical glass bottles have a wider neck than the Mini glass bottle. If you find a bottle which is claimed to be original, look for "S 16" molded in the base. Repro 37H9672 wire clips are out there, can be used with the repro bottle mounts, they don't look too bad. Repros of the Winguard bottle decals are available too, so you can make a pretty convincing fake. Last ones I saw were on the 1959Miniregister forum.

Current auction price on these seems to be about $550. Last one listed on Ebay for $600 went no bid.
