ok.  I'm not at this stage yet in the project but I'm going to ask now, since its driving me crazy.  I have a Smiths impulse tach that I would like to wire in this winter.  My interweb searches don't come up with much.  I am looking for very detailed instructons on how to do this.  I'm electrically challenged, so explain it like I'm a 5 year old!  I'm not looking for simple answers like "...the green is ground..." I get that, I need someone to tell me exactly where to connect wires and why.

Here are the specifics.  The face says RVI 5000/00B.  It has the following wires: White.  White with red tab. Green.  Red.  urple (brown?)

It is going in a 1980 Mini 1000 (CDN) otherwise stock (electrically).

Pics to follow is they don't show up right away...

Thanks!
