I tried an 86° thermostat last summer and it ran generally at around 92-95°.  Tried another, same result.  So I put the 82° back in.

I would have thought a n 82 degree thermostat too cool.(?)
I run an 86 degree with 11 blade fan and a cheap aluminum rad.....even at 30 degrees in traffic the combination worked well

If the cooling fins zig-zag back and forth between the tubes it is a super cool radiator in contrast to an old style where the cooling fins are staked in sheets and the tubes go through them at right angles.

Oh yeah, (Thanks Spitz) forgot to mention...I have the tropical fan already fitted.  Also, I am checking temperatures with both the dash gauge as well as thermometer.  I am using an air-fuel gauge to set up carb tuning, so I think I'm in the right area - ie not running really lean thereby increasing temps.  But that's all an aside - I'm trying to get reviews on radiators.

If the stop and go in hot weather causes issues....maybe you need one of these ( unless already fitted )

And available as a kit

Hello all,

I've got a crack in the radiator that I'm going to see if someone can fix today (for reasonable cost), but just in case they can't, I was wondering which radiator to go after for purchase?  I spent a fair amount of time this weekend reading 'opinions' and people are all over the board.  Anybody got any solid experience?  My engine is nothing over the top, just a 1293 with some mods and tends to run a little on the hotter side of things.  I run it as often as I can, including 95+ days in the summer.  It's got a two core in there now (supposedly was a supercool - but don't know how to verify) and would like something that might provide a little more cooling.  Even though it runs a little hotter than I'd like to see, as long as I keep moving it's in pretty decent range.  If I get into stop and go, sometimes I get into trouble range.

Thanks

Ben
