I have a Cooper S which did a triple endo and bent a lot of stuff. I ordered new Cooper S MK2 arms thinking I'd have to buy a MK2 rack. Having 17 steering racks on the shelf I decided to try my hand at rebuilding a MK1 rack. Searching around I was able to find enough parts to repair an early rack. That leaves these new arms surplus to my needs. I realize there are plenty of S and non S MK2 and beyond arms around used. These are new and I'm asking what I paid no more. Steve (CTR)

What Ian said... and I have yet to have an explanation from one of the experts why one can't use a MKII+ steering rack with MK1 arms. I know the importance of Ackerman geometry when it comes to race cars, but feels it's not critical on a street car.

Here in Oz all our cars got Mk1 arms and Mk1 Oz made racks.
Many over the years have had UK Mk2 style racks fitted as replacements. I doubt the steering angles suffer except at full lock, which would hardly matter as it's seldom used in daily driving.

TTF,

Stock #'s are BTA-896, 897 and have a tang on opposing sides of the Track rod end.

There are also the thicker BTA-894-895's also that will work.

The ones I have are 21A74S and 73S and are round at the track rod end. I can't tell you which ones are longer or shorter.

I would be open to a trade if interested.
