Yes, it looks like a Nippon Denso. They are smaller and lightweight compared to some older versions. Many on Turbo-Minis have adopted them.
I will take a closer look with a mirror to see if I can identify any markings.
What are the output ratings on the ones you have Nick?

I would just take it out and install a Lucas unit so you can easily replace it later on/ on the side of the road. If wanted I have a few good spare units and a brand new alternator harness that was removed for a vtec car.

Are there any markings on the casting? Looks like an earlier Mitsubishi or Nippondenso... I just test ran an engine with a Mitsubishi unit from an 80s gen 2 Mazda RX7. Tiny thing and fit almost perfect. Yours looks older from the bolt-on rear bracket. They could cover more applications with different bolt-on brackets than with both mounting ears being cast. If you can find any markings, Google 'em!
