Wasn't the GP sort of a special edition or was there a "special" GP version on top of the GP?
The one with the red mirrors and other goodies...

The 'GP' model(s) were built in 2006 and 2013. They are the fastest MINI Production Cars, (0 to 60 in about 5.9 secs)

I don't know how much you paid but that's basically the most expensive model of mini they made...limited edition run of only a few thousand I think and started at about 34k new. The GP edition was released about a few years before they released the current generation of mini. It was their highest HP edition and had some pretty sporty suspension upgrades stock from the factory... Do a search on it and you can find more details.

Bought a used 2009 MCS that has the JCW running boards, front and back tags, JCW brakes with 17" run flatts, and upgraded muffler with JCW on those but I don't see anything on the engine to note the upgrade. Any way to find out what I have as far as JCW goes?
Carfax shows this...
Vehicle Information:
2009 MINI COOPER JCW GP KIT
VIN: WMWMF93589TF96448
HATCHBACK 2 DR
1.6L I4 FI DOHC 16V
FRONT WHEEL DRIVE
Curious.
Thanks,
Murf
Murf, according to the vin number, you have a USA model factory JCW R56 Hardtop built in 07/2008 with the N14 engine.
Looks to me like you have a 'real' JCW.
Congrats
Ken

I'd ask the questions at Motoring Alliance. It's much more friendly and informative than NAM.

My 03 JCWs has a JCW serial number on the valve cover, JCW logo on the intercooler, air box and exhoust tips. The later JCW models may have changed what is marked, go to a dealer and take a peek.

You are probably better asking over on NAM, where there are lots more gurus on MINIs. I would also go to a dealer with your VIN and they can probably tell you what the factory build of your car had on it.
