Yep the load tray was cut and then used as part of the back seat , when it folded down the load floor was flat , the battery was mounted behind the driver on a shelf against the side of the car , when the seat was put up it pulled straight up then back so the bottom of the seat sat on the load tray with lugs welded to the shock tower from memory to stop the back falling backwards if that makes sense.

...thanks to all for your answers. It looks like it could almost be anywhere on the back part of the car...but I like the idea of placing it under the left seat.
Right now I am still working on modifying the floor pan on the Tamiya model kit, but your tackle the wheel position soon. I will be posting pictures if anybody is interested,

Here's where it is on mine. In this case under the drivers seat (left hand drive) battery is on the other side of the tunnel in the same location.

Let's stick with the Van part...the spare tire is behind the LD front seat  (battery behind the RH front seat and under the load bay lip)...and yes a 12" wheel with Falken tyre can just fit in there behind the LH seat.  The load floor is cut away a bit behind the seat...would you like a PHOTO or 1?

That's interesting .. was the load tray cut?? or where did back seat passenger's feet go??

My 68 mini van had a back seat conversion done to it but I think it was after market I don't think it was ever used as it spent it's early life as a hospital laundry van , and I can assure you as the second owner and a 19yr old the back seat was only put up once .

I have a NZ van and my spare is under the cargo area in the rear. I think it is the same as the estate. Mine has an aftermarket rear seat, and the battery is under the seat.

A van's a van... Two (or maybe even one) seat in front with load area out back... IIRR, to avoid purchase tax you couldn't have side windows in the back..  (and had to obey a reduced speed limit

Oz vans came with or without side windows but I don't remember ever seeing one with a rear seat kit.... I have seen side windows that would seem to be aftermarket being based on caravan kits (i.e. windows that could be slid open).  Although we didn't have purchase tax there must have been some advantage for commercial vehicles as a few manufacturers went down that path.  Volvo made a 240 van that was just a wagon without back seats (even had (side) doors in the back)

There is one Oz built estate recorded but I don't remember whether it was a Morris or a Clubbie.... (Someone might search Craig Watson's Mini Experience archives for the full - and very entertaining - story.)

My Leyland Australia Mini Window Van - Window Van because the Aussies did it - has 2 seats and a rear load deck.  Battery behind the driver so RH, spare wheel & tyre behind the LH seat.

I don't recall any U.K. Vans having fixed or sliding for that matter? Poss could be special ordered that way? But vans? No Windows as that would have attracted excise tax as a passenger car with or without seats fitted
on my 61 woody internal tank the spare was in the back under the floor almost like the saloon/sedan

A van to me has steel sides with no rear side windows. I find it a bit strange that people call a van a van when it has aftermarket / dealer installed windows in the sides with seats in the back which maybe this model is somewhat similar to the Aussie and UK "vans" with fixed side glass and no rear interior trim apart from rear seats. I guess the Aussie ones were originally CKD kits sent there as commercial vehicles to avoid the extra tax much the same as the UK ones but that is just a guess on my part.

And when did Vans have internal tanks?

Some (early ones i believe) maybe internal tank Countryman / Travellers and vans were in the rear cargo area floor like an Estate.
I don't think a spare wheel would fit under the rear seat if a van had seats in it, there would be no room for your feet. In a true van configuration the load bed (rear floor) is longer than an Estate and is close to the rear of the front seats and covers most if not all of the spare tire.

I am an avid modeller and I am currently working or making a 1:24 Mini van (internal tank) out of the Tamiya kit. I wanted to ask you where is the spare wheel located? is it on the cargo area, under the seats...??,
