We don't have statistics on the failure rate of the CVT transmission as this is not something that MINI shares with the world...
You didn't mention the mileage or condition of this car, but it would be a 'risk' if you go with this car... I might recommend you look at the 2009 and newer Cooper Convertible if possible, as these models have the traditional automatic transmission....

We are looking at a 2006 Mini Cooper Convertible with Automatic transmission. We are very concerned after reading the many CVT problems these cars have. Does anyone know the percentage of these particular MCs that have this issue??
