I found the reference I was looking for in the Rover Workshop Manual RCL 0193ENG (5th Edition) Published By Rover Technical Group Limited, page 1 General Information, Vehicle Identification, "The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is attached to the RH inner wing valance. The VIN is also etched into the lower LH corners of the windscreen and rear window."
Where exactly is the "RH inner wing valance"?
Thanks

So using the 1985+ guide from https://www.minimania.com/Mini_Chassis_VIN_and_Commission_Numbers__Part_II
I seem to have finally identified my Mini, only one question: the sequential build number is 6-digit here, right?.

Car engines make CO2 and trees absorb CO2. By running your engine you're feeding a tree and helping the environment.

Perhaps this is a German market car as it's LH steer.(?). Definately later classic MINI as Minicord points out

I'll try to find the numbers in the suggested places.
I also found this: https://www.google.com/search?tbo=p&tbm=bks&q=isbn:1847979904
Where this query: austin vin "a-as10"
gives the Austin 1100 Mk1 result.
So indeed, the plate seems to have been poached from another car.
I also have the commission number that suggests a Mini City, according to the guide posted here, and it reads B20S 792733A
