HELP. My name is roger in tallahassee i have a 92 fuel injector cooper and i have to keep my foot on the brake and gas pedal to prevent it from cutting off. On the open road it runs perfect but cuts off at stop lights. I have checked lines for vacumn leaks but lines are fine . I have added sea foam to gas which helped the rough idle to smooth out but when it cuts off if i let it sit for 30 sec it will restart

FYI, the coolant temp sensor can be tested with a Volt Ohm Meter. If it has resistance, it's probably good. No need to remove it, just stick it with the probes and read.
If rough idle, bad gas mileage or running rich continues, you may need to change the O2 sensor. You don't need to disconnect any hoses. Just unbolt the intake manifold and move slightly to get at the O2 sensor.
Dion is a good source and can fix anything. Also a good guy.

I would like to give a much deserved BIG-UP to Malcolm for that great suggestion about checking the fuel trap.
So while taking off the fuel trap the vacuum line leading to the intake manifold seemingly came off too.
So not knowing where it came from I went into a major panic because the nipple on the intake manifold is so incredible
small and not visible in plain site. So I searched all over and finally got a glimpse of where it seemed to fit. Now to get it on the
nipple was another story because the space between the manifold and the firewall and throttle body is almost non existant.
As Malcolm had suggested I blew in one side of the fuel trap and determined it was not clogged and it wasn't
So I went to advance auto part and found an elbow as he had also suggested and because the hose which had fallen off had stretched
out from the engine heat it fit perfectly on the small side of the elbow .
I also bought some new plugs
I put the car back together and stacted it up and it ran great not burning all that black smoke or running rich. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed.
What seemed to have happened was though the fuel trap was clear since the hose had fallen off prior to me removing the trap was the reason the computer was
causing the car to run rich .
Thanks again Malcolm for all you wonderful advise.

The coolant temp sensor is a bear to get to and located under the intake manifold which requires removing the intake to replace the sender. If it is bad it usually reads low on the temp gauge.
The lines very rarely go bad it is the elbow ends that fall apart, there are 8 of them and they are cheap just replace them all.
You need the code reader to re set and clear the codes they will not clear themselves even if you disconnect the battery.

The diaphragm in the fuel regulator seems a little compromised when we took the top off but will check your suggestions also.
Thanks a bunch.

Also the coolant temp sensors fail and give a low temp reading so the computer thinks the engine is cold and dumps more fuel at it.
You really need to get the codes read if someone local has the correct reader.

When my mechanic gets some time after thanksgiving we will take off the throttle body and send it down to Tampa to have them look it there for me.
Thanks very much for the feed back.

By "single barely fuel injector" do you mean single point fuel injection? Or that it barely runs?
I had a non-Mini fuel injected vehicle that had very similar symptoms. It would die out if the rpms got below a certain point, needing me to heel-and-toe at stoplights. The problem was the throttle position sensor had worn and when the throttle closed, the computer thought the engine had stopped and would cut off fuel.
I don't know if Mini fuel injection has a similar component, but it might be a place to start looking.
