spank.  why is you THINK you know it all about chokes?/you have NEVER even seen one.in person..  must less driven one.. I have imported for chokes..have you?/ NO sir...   yes the new 3rd generation mokes ( petrols ) will do 62 MPH maybe downhill..but this is really pushing it.. I did NOT the left over 23 choke rolling shells.. due to the paint problems..  they offered to repaint  but think the rear problem is the e coating.. was NOT done right. .there is market for the rolling shells.BUT only if the come in proper zinc/ e coating and in primer..chrome is horrible  .all needs to be stainless steel from the USA..  later bc

The article isn't referring to the California emokes which are NEV, but it refers to 2 manufacturers who are offering different versions that ARE rated for roadway use

That brings us to this week’s auto show where there was not one but two companies advertising new electric Mokes that are capable of 120kmh speeds with significant range and street legal chops.

The first company I visited calls themselves EMokeGroup and has been selling the Chinese version mentioned above in France for quite some time. Their new product is called the JumMoke and it will be built in France (or at least assembled) and fully road compliant to 120kmh/75mph speeds.

Additionally, this Moke has a more raised suspension, AWD on bigger, thicker wheels and a stated range of 200km or about 125 miles. That’s impressive when you look at the aerodynamics of the Moke, but I imagine that city driving will still be more of the norm than highway.

Not to be outdone, at a booth about 100 meters away, Moke International which makes petrol versions of the Mini Moke and lays claims to its British heritage also unveiled its own 120kmh Moke.

Details were slim on this one but it appears to be more of a conversion with 44kW (Peak 80kW) Elaphe in-wheel motors (I snagged a spec sheet and included it below) with a 22kWh 100V battery. The range on this one is 50km less at 150km total, but might be more realistic....

general Choke question. wasn't there at one time some excitement, interest in these?  what happened that they fell out of favor?

That is a pitiful sight even if they are Chokes.

spank.  total BS.. about 75 MPH and 125 range..  these mokes same as the JNC golf carts out there in Cali.. same manufacture in china..  and they sure do NOT have a engine that will comply  to the new EURO 5  EPA regs....  I think the EURO 5  will be the same as our OBD 3..  so they  have No petrol  new chokes   for sale in the EU..  btw. the rights to the name of MOKE belongs to  Ed Peters of Ming Moke in Wuhu, China.( he just won a court case in china about this...  it does NOT belong to mokeinternational.com or mokeamerica.com    later bc

I have heard that the remaining stocks of Chongqing Mokes are up for sale.  So if you looking for 23 Moke bodies in varying condition, then you know where to go.

Note the huge accumulation of rainwater that has collected in the green sheeting above the white Moke.  When that finally pops it will certainly help the floor to rust.

The early Chokes had the same issues along with anything electrical and weak paint as i am sure you know Bill. Rear brakes are easy just convert it all to stock Mini and be done but the electrics and wiring colours had a lot to be desired.
By the time they get to the 3rd generation of these (if they last that long) they may be decent but only really practical for anywhere you would drive a golf cart imo.

If someone pays more than $10 k for one of these emokes from JNC in china.. they are either STONED or just plain STUPIC..  I know they are having major recall problems..  the guys that I bought the Chokes shells from in Chongqing, China.. I heard has recently CLOSED..   brakes are real problem.. and all the chrome will need to be replaced with stainless steel..  laterbc
