just returned from British Wiring (BW)
i did purchase grommets for the inner wing holes
i will edit my previous post.
surprised that BW does not carry the bulbs so I will source from our host.
I did the rear loom/lights year ago but will be re-checking when I am finished with the front loom.

Looks right to me.
Where the wires pass through the inner wings, install rubber grommets to protect the wires from chafing on metal.
Add them to your shopping list.
I'd get extra wire - saves having to go back when you find out it is a bit short. Instead of 2 @ 36" red wire, I'd get about 8 or 10 feet.
I would also get spare bullets in case you need to redo some.
Have you checked the situation at the rear lights? Does the loom reach both sides of the car, or will you need to extend there too?

So ... to repeat your suggestions (in detail) ...
I made a trip today to British Wiring (near me) and purchased a few items.
Here are my modified steps I performed.
1) purchase these items
- two 36” long red wires (bullet connector on one end)
- two 1/2” grommets
- one double bullet connector
- two dual filament bulbs (1157)
2) connect double bullet connector to red wire coming out of wiring loom
3) insert red wires into other end of double bullet connector
4) insert grommet into each inner fender
5) run a red, green/white and black wire along the slam panel and through the grommet in RH inner fender
6) run a red, green/red and black wire along the slam panel and through the grommet in LH inner fender
7) to determine the flasher and parking light bullet connector on the bulb holder do this :
a) insert dual filament bulb into bulb holder
b) connect black/negative wire from battery (12V) to ground connector on bulb holder
c) connect red/positive wire from battery (12V) to one of the insulated connectors at the base
of the bulb holder and repeat for the second insulated connector. Take notice to which one is brighter.
This is the flasher. The dimmer filament is the parking light.
8) connect the red wire to the parking light connector (dimmer) in each bulb holder
9) connect the green/white (RH) and green/red (LH) wire to the flasher connector (brighter) in bulb holder
10) connect the black wire to the ground connector which is soldered onto the bulb holder connector
11) when steering column is connected test turn signals
12) when instrument panel switches are connected test light switch which control parking lights (and headlights)

If you look inside the bulb holder you will see the two contacts that the coloured wires are connected to. Both contacts are insulated from the metal shell. The 1157 bulb is a push-and turn (bayonet) type. The brass nubs on the side of it are in different positions so it can only go in one way. When properly inserted, the contacts are aligned so the brighter (turn signal) filaments are fed by the proper wire and the parking lights are fed accordingly. (Dual filament brake/tail lights work the same way.)

Just to be very clear - the red wire is not an earth.
Its the power feed for side / parking / tail lights - what ever you call them in whatever country you are.
At the front, these side lights can be either in the headlights, or part of a twin filament bulb holder with the flashers / indicators / turn signals (weyctiwcya).
Roger - you need to decide where you want your side lights, with the headlight or with the flasher.

Doug is usually the guru on this electrical stuff.. however..
My Factory manual shows 2 variations for post 64 Ss (they may have adopted one or the other of these - or something different - for export models).
Left hand flasher unit shows it being fed with one black and one green/red trace wire while the Rt hand unit is black and green/white trace.
Then there is a red wire earthed through the bulb holder that goes to either a lamp unit in the flasher or a separate bulb in the headlamp. Both sides have the same single red wire option...
Noting that the bulb holder is different for the dual or single purpose bulb I guess you get to choose which you have/want.

I have a 1966 Cooper S, LHD, Personal Export, no modifications.
I am in the process of installing a new wiring harness and have a question on wiring the
Running Light / Parking Light/ Side Lamp (whatever you want to call it).
I have a clear glass lens over a Lucas dual element bulb holder (27H5545).
I understand the required dual element clear bulb is GLB380 / 1157.
The RH bulb holder has the black and green/white wires connected at the end of the holder
using bullet connectors. LH has black and green/red wires. I believe these are the turn
signals / flashers.
There is a red wire coming out of the loom at the same location as the LH flasher wires
and the RH headlight wires.
Now the question ....
Do I simply source a 2 wire bullet connector (850641) and 2 red wires (each approx 36" long) and run
to the LH and RH bulb holders and plug the bullet connector into the bulb holder connector near the
socket?
