The blurbs claim it was imported to California and is shows California plates. So probably not Robin's Moke.

I agree with the Dr, my Catalina Moke has a the forward floor panels replaced with 16 Ga steel but I'd be embarrassed to show images of this mess.

I have the same thoughts about why some vehicles in general sell for so much based on their condition, AND the vehicle itself even if it is in great condition. Take the friggin K-car for example. These things are still netting thousands. They have a whole category of past sales. I don't get it. Why? I realize "to each their own", but come on.
If I ever win it big in the lottery, one of the first 7 things that I do is buy every K-car I find on the road and junkyard and crush them with a tank. Full extinction! Unreal that they're still out there AND selling on BAT for as much as they are. Quite the platform to sell anything on.
I haven't seen a Pontiac Aztek come up yet at least. Who knows. Someone probably has one stashed away since new in a wrapper, and someone else will want to pay a ridiculous amount to have it. There's always one. Or I guess in an auction, it takes two.

.
Simple recipe for Excitement:  Take 1 Classic Mini. Throw in 1590cc's of engine. Add 5 gears. A dash of 94 octane. A sprinkle of style inside and out. Toss in 1 MadMan and finally heat tires and pavement to taste. Recipe produces 1 Mini VTEC conversion and full satisfaction. Motor on!

IMO it wasn't worth half that much. So much wrong with everything on it. Maybe I should throw together a Catalina Island Moke that's patches on patches and see what it will bring in this crazy market! Those floors hanging loose on the bottom is enough to make me cringe. I wonder how long before it comes up on auction again (shill bidder?)

What a mess! Floors are a botched up job of flat steel and not very good. The side panels, rear panel, and most likely all the fenders have been replaced with flat steel. If the fenders haven't been replaced with flat steel, then there's an incredible amount of bondo covering up the seams. The bids are already past what I think it's worth. Obviously the bidders either aren't familiar with what it should look like or they don't care even though the work is shoddy.
