Thanks Kermy!  There are a couple other decent minis on BAT, and prices are rising it seems.  I have noticed a lot of different LBC's are not reaching reserve on BAT, as sellers seek to ride the appreciation wave, if there indeed is one.....  A mint condition, bone stock Mk I 850 in nearby Madison CT sold for 45k a few months back.

Thanks Dan!  A spammer, or new sock puppet name of he who will not be mentioned??

Yes, I hope to find DAEK, and failing that find a similar spec resto-mod.  There is a cool 1430cc Riley Elf with JK 5 speed on BAT right now, but I am probably not willing to bid as high as others for an unseen, unknown commodity.  And the Elf has Mk I-II sliders, and I want rollups.

I suspect "Sandra596" is a spammer. Almost all spammers post the same day they open a membership and post something that does not relate to the thread they posted to. Usually their posts contain a link to whatever they are try to flog. The links may or may not be dangerous. Sometimes they post without a link (or with a hidden one) and come back later.

I hope you find DAEK.

That's a crime!!  DAEK was a daily driver, and participated in the Solo 1 Laps at Mini Meet East meets West, at Blackhawk Raceway outside of Chicago in 2004???  Third fastest in class.  DAEK was also at Tail of the Dragon Mini Meet in Tennessee after that.  Fun times there with Alex and Suzy from the UK who are good mates of Michael who built the car.

I can't post thumbnails or get them embedded, but cast an eye over these and smile.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane, Alex!!  But did you have to film me taking a leak on the roadside?????  ??

"Curber" is a car enthusiast who sells cars without a stealers license, which is totally legal if one has paid the sales tax and registered in ones own name.  A tick of course is the blood sucker you remove from your dog or cat.

{Off topic} I used to drive my Moke from Warwick to Perry Barr, England to University for three years, rain or shine! About 30 miles each way. I noticed that my female engineering colleagues were fondly offering me beers for a ride! After driving a tractor for my dad forever the lack of comfort went unnoticed.

Not off topic at all!  At least with a Mini or most any other older LBC one can often make a DIY, "shade tree mechanic" repair by the roadside, when the critters break down.  My first Mini, a '65 Mk I Cooper S (ex-SCCA C sedan racer), and subsequent bugeye Sprite, back in the mid 70's, had the old style fuel pump with clicking contact points.  When the points got a bit too much carbon on them it often stopped working.  Banging on it gently with a rock often got the points working again, long enough for one to get home and take it apart and decarbon them.  With any modern car one needs an OBD II tester to even figure out what is wrong!  When DAEK went to Mini Meet East meets West long ago, it was driven to Chicago and back to CT, almost a 2,000 mile round trip, with no problems whatsoever.

I have to think that someone somewhere has seen this car, and knows where it is?  Last known it was sold to a Professor outside of Philadelphia, but no record in Pennsylvania of the UK VIN # that was on the California title.  The Professor supposedly passed away not long after the purchase.

EDIT - Someone suggested that as ornery as he is, Mr. Cox might be able to locate this car, perhaps I should contact him??? ??

Yeah, I'll get rid of this one too. I hoped deleting the previous snarky post would get the message across, but obviously it didn't.
