5 Speed Conversion Kit

A major inconvenience when trying to enjoy a Spridget as a daily driver is the non-synchro first gear transmission. Unless you truly come to a complete stop you will find that first gear has a very short life! A ribcase transmission and/or parts are getting harder and harder to find. Mini Mania is proud to offer a kit to install a five-speed fully synchronized overdrive transmission! Kit includes aluminum adapter plate, mount assembly, modified drive shaft yoke, clutch disc, special pilot bush, hardware, and illustrated instructions. You supply the Datsun transmission (or we can provide one, TRAN5) and small parts including slave cylinder and throw-out bearing. You must return the yokes from the Datsun trans and your old Spridget trans in exchange ($125 refundable core charge applies). No cutting of the car is required: the competent home mechanic should have no trouble completing the installation. ALSO, we can now provide a custom made speedometer cable and adapter with the proper reduction gears, part #12345cable. These are made to order so we'll need to know your tire size and final drive ratio. Yes, your speedo will still be accurate!
