When you buy a headliner kit for your early Mini you will find that the kit is simply the sewn together material that still has to be attached to your exisitng (and no longer available new) metal frame. While glue is partially used to attach it to the frame, these metal clips are also needed.
This universal trim clip with smaller D shape and extra short claws section is for rear seat and for headliners. For MK1/2 minis and Traveller/Estate versions there are 25 and MK3 and on there are 13.
