For those very early 25D type distributors. This version is for modern fuels with slide on vacuum hose inlet pipe-not the very first screw in type.
Question:
What is the initial setting of the vac.advance module. Repair Manual gives instruction to set initial setting per marks on the vac module.
The replacement module has no markings.

Henry, sorry we don't have that info. Perhaps the following might help.
This is how vacuum advance works. At part throttle, high manifold vacuum moves the diaphragm in the vacuum advance canister on the distributor to add more timing. But at WOT, the vacuum drops to near zero and vacuum advance is removed and the total timing then is established by the initial plus the mechanical advance.
Excessive vacuum advance results in part throttle ping and a loss in mpg. Insufficient vacuum advance results in poor part-throttle response and a loss in mpg. Notice both insufficient as well as excessive vacuum advance results in a driveability problem and a reduction in mpg
