Pilot Bush, Crank To Gearbox, 948 - Early 1275 Sprite, Midget & Morris Minor
Up until the later 1275cc engines all the cranks in the Sprites and Midgets use a bronze bushing in the end of the crank to support the input shaft of the trans. The outside diameter of this bush (10M131) is .625". The later 1275cc engines use an actual roller bearing that has an OD of .750" It is a very good idea to replace the pilot bearing (AHU1026) in the end of the crankshaft while you have the clutch off; this will save wear on the input shaft and bearings.
Question:
What is the outside diameter of the input shaft on a Sprite 1275, Or the inside diameter of the pilot bearing?
Answer:
The bearings have what is effectively .50" ID.

Question:
Hi
Which way around should the roller bearing be fitted?
Answer:
The side with the numbers fits into the crank - the side with the whit-ish inner plastic seal faces outward.
Thanks.
Thanks.
