Steel Wheel Competition Race Axle
2 Piece design of this axle is guaranteed to outlast most cars! The two piece design has a splined outer flange that is also pinned and has the cap welded in place. This axle design not only will never break but will also never leak!

The outer drive flange is made from'4140HT' Chromium-molybdenum steel, Hardness is 197 HB. The axle itself is made from '4340HT' Nickel-chromium-molybdenum steel, this is the same material as used in the NASCAR Cup Series cars. For wire wheels use part number BTA807-COMP

The length of the axle is about 24 1/4" long by itself - without the cap attached.

Will this fit a 1977 Midget without wire wheels - steel wheels? Does the center of the hub go through the rim?

Answer:

Great question and yes, if you have steel wheels, then it will work. Also, it doesn't stick out any more than the standard axle - and they’re super cool.

Now, if you have wire wheels, they won't work. For wire wheel you would need . Wire Wheel Race Axle , Sprite , & MG Midget Part # BTA807-COMP

May I use these for light drifting and daily driving and not have them break on my MG Midget 1500

Absolutely. These are designed to be much more durable than the original axles.

The competition axle, does it mean the half shaft can be withdrawn without having to disturb the flange e.g. for quick diff changes?

The competition aspect of these is the harder material, otherwise these are just like the stock type. They install and remove just like the stock type.
