MINI Factory OEM specifies that the Insert Nut or Tapered Nut MUST be replaced once it is removed. M9 x 1.5 x 16.5
Fits the following models :
2011-2016 R60 MINI Cooper S Countryman All4
2013-2016 R61 MINI Cooper S Paceman ALL4
MINI requires the replacement of the Insert Nut or Tapered Nut once it is removed. The thread of the tapered nut is micro-encaspulated to secure the drive shaft against loosening during operation.

MINI Factory OEM replacement Transfer Case (or Power Take Off unit) for the Countryman and Paceman ALL4 models with the Automatic Transmission.
Fits the following models with the Automatic Transmission:
2011-2016 R60 MINI Cooper S Countryman All4
2013-2016 R61 MINI Cooper S Paceman ALL4
The replacement Transfer Case is different for manual and automatic transmissions. Transfer Case Repair Kit / Insert Nut is required when servicing the transfer case. Select accordingly.
NOTES:
- Transfer Case / Insert Nut is required when servicing the transfer case. Order separately.
- The replacement Transfer Case is different for manual and automatic transmissions.
- Since the ALL4 Transfer Case uses a 'Lifetime Fluid', there is no oil drain plug, only a check and filler plug.
- Small amounts of gear oil can escape when replacing sealing rings, checking the level and topping off may be necessary in service.
- To prevent the GORE-TEX membrane (breather element) from being soaked with gear oil, the ALL4 Transfer Case should not be tilted excessively on removal and installation. Otherwise the capability of the GORE-TEX membrane to allow air to enter and exit is reduced.
For the Transfer Case Fluid, see BMW Synthetic Transfer Case Gear Oil.
The ALL4 Transfer Case
The drive power in a front wheel drive MINI is routed via the front differential to the front wheels. In a MINI Countryman with allwheel drive, part of the drive power has to be transferred to the rear axle. This task is assumed by the ALL4 transfer case also referred to as PTO (power take off).
The ALL4 transfer case is mechanically connected to the front differential which in the R60 is built into the manual/automatic transmission. As the external geometry differs for the manual and automatic transmissions of the two all-wheel-drive models (configuration, bolt pattern), there are currently two ALL4 transfer case versions.
The versions of the ALL4 transfer case differ with regard to their case design. The splines on the shafts of both variants are different, which prevents the wrong component being installed. Aside from this, the inner structure is the same.
Due to its installation location, the housing of the ALL4 transfer case must be water-tight and endure great temperature differences during operation. This is why a pressure equalization breather element containing a GORE-TEX membrane has been installed. Water cannot penetrate this membrane. However, air can enter and exit freely to balance out pressure differences.
