Mini Cooper Catalytic Converter / Downpipe Refurbish Service to restore flow through your Cat.  This is a 'service' that refurbishes YOUR downpipe and requires that you remove the downpipe from your car and send it in for this service.  This is critical when installing a new Turbo!

For the following Cooper S models:

2007-2013 R56 MINI Cooper S Hardtop
2008-2014 R55 MINI Cooper S Clubman
2009-2015 R57 MINI Cooper S Convertible
2012-2015 R58 MINI Cooper S Coupe
2012-2015 R59 MINI Cooper S Roadster
2011-2016 R60 MINI Cooper S Countryman
2013-2016 R60 MINI Cooper S Paceman

Excessive exhaust backpressure will kill any turbo.  Years of buildup in the catalytic converter increases the exhaust backpressure. Backpressure causes undue stress on the turbine  which in turn stresses the seal and circlip. Over time, these items will wear causing oil leaks and excessive shaft movement, either of which will eventually cause turbo failure.

In order to eliminate this problem, this Catalytic Converter Refurbishment Service will restore flow through your cat back to original OEM specs.  The proprietary process restores flow without degrading the cat, remove crucial heavy metals, or damage the core.  This is not an acid flush or chemical baste process.

Simply ship your downpipe and the service will take 2 to 3 days before your downpipe is shipped back to you.

Once we receive your order, we will provide you with instructions and address for shipment.

NOTE:  When installing 'oversized' high performance turbos (for off-road use), the stock catalytic converter may not have sufficient flow for reliable long term operation.  In these cases, you should consider a larger diameter downpipe (with or without the cat) and a performance exhaust system.  The larger turbos require lower backpressure - for example, the ideal exhaust for the K04 turbo on the MINI is a 3 inch downpipe and 3 inch exhaust.

Question:
What does "refurbishing" entail exactly? Will you simply clean it or will you recharge the metals?
Answer:
The metals inside Catalytic converters do not deteriorate over time - they do however become contaminated by exhaust gasses, engine soot and oil blow-by from failed turbos or leaking components. So this service is like an ultrasonic cleaning for the internals of the catalytic converter cones and takes off all the built up gunk, restoring flow. This service is a great way to save cost over a completely new replacement - keep in mind the service does have about a 2 week turn around time.

Question:
I have 2 MINI Coopers S R56, and I would like to send you my 2 catalytic converters to service for better air-flow. Will I still pass smog??
Answer:
The catalytic converter refurbish service is a restoration service, it is NOT a performance upgrade service. This service eliminates the excess backpressure caused by years of buildup and contamination from normal use, or maybe from a failed turbo.

The Catalytic Converter Refurbishment Service will restore flow through your cat back to original OEM specs. The proprietary process restores flow without degrading the cat, removing crucial heavy metals, or damaging the core. This is not an acid flush or chemical baste process.

The manufacturer of our aftermarket turbo requires the catalytic converters on your MINI to be refurbished or replaced, in order to validate their warranty. A dirty cat with backpressure will greatly reduce the life of any new turbo.

Question:
I have the engine light on with the P0420, my car is due in July for the smog test. Can this refurbish service eliminates my problem if yes, how soon can I get it back?
Answer:
P0420: Catalytic converter efficiency below the limit value

Potential problem sources:
 -  Collateral fault stemming from defective oxygen sensor or mixture adaptation fault
 -  Leak in the exhaust system
 -  Catalytic converter defective

To answer your question, the G2NME2890 cat refurbishes service may or may not 'eliminate the problem'.  If the cat is causing the problem and it is in a condition where it can be refurbished, there is a good chance it will.
