The Forge Motorsport Turbo Blanket has been specifically designed for the stock turbo charger on the 2nd generation MINI Cooper S models. This turbo blanket is designed to isolate the radiant heat produced by the turbocharger and minimize the risk of warping the hood scoop. This blanket installs over the turbo after removing the factory heat shield.
Features:
• Precise fitment
• Easy install
• Performance/Safety
Compatible With:
For the following Cooper S models.
R56 Cooper S Hardtop (07-13)
R55 Cooper S Clubman (08-14)
R57 Cooper S Convertible (09-15)
R58 Cooper S Coupe (12-15)
R59 Cooper S Roadster (12-15)
R60 Cooper S Countryman (11-16)
R61 Cooper S Paceman (13-16)
Specifications:
- Stainless Steel Rivets
- Stainless Steel Grommets
- Carbon fabric outer shell
- Calcium Magnesium Silicate Wool constructed Inner Core
- High temperature Silica fabric
The stock Mini heat shield is inadequate and can result in warping the standard air scoop located in the bonnet.
This design has been created to withstand the harshest of environments and proven to withstand temperatures up to 2500 °f of radiant heat which will assist in protecting and prolonging the life of engine components.
Design innovation keeps the heat of the exhaust gases contained within the hot side of the turbocharger, away from the cool side and the intake path which helps reduce turbo lag and air intake temperatures resulting in more power.
Please note that a turbo blanket will lose its flexibility over the first few heat cycles as the material cures, so once fitted it should not be routinely removed as this can cause damage to the blanket.
NOTE: Since this Turbo Blanket will contain most of the radiant heat from the turbo, it is important that you allow the turbo to cool down to normal operating temperatures before shutdown following a hard or spirited drive. Otherwise, you run the risk of oil coking in the lines and passages. Oil is the most effective cooling medium for the turbo, so idle your engine for a couple minutes following a hard or spirited drive and let your turbo cool before shutting down!
