Mini Factory replacement 4-pack of spark plugs for the Cooper non-S models with the N12 engine. Sold in packages of 4 spark plugs.
Actual manufacturer of spark plugs may change over time as MINI sometimes changes suppliers. For this reason, the image shown may or may not be the actual product. Regardless, these are the spark plugs supplied by MINI and installed at the MINI dealerships.
Fits the following Cooper non-S models built before 09/2009 with the N12 engine:
2007 up to 09/2009 R56 MINI Cooper (non-S) Hardtop
2008 up to 09/2009 R55 MINI Cooper (non-S) Clubman
up to 09/2009 R57 MINI Cooper (non-S) Convertible
NOTE: For modified MINIs with ECU tune or larger turbos, see Mini Cooper Colder Spark Plug for Modified Minis.
Factory recommends new plugs every 100,000 miles for the 2007-2010 Mini Cooper non-S models with the N12 engine - we think it wouldn't hurt to replace sooner.
Cooper
High Power Spark plug original replacement for the Cooper. Brands may vary depending on the supply from Mini - it appears they are transitioning from Beru to Champion (March 2016).
In case of multivalve technology, lean burn or direct injection, the flow conditions in the combustion chamber require reliable mixture ignition and optimal cold starting behaviour. BERU spark plugs were specially designed for these special requirements. Where the burn-off resistance and ignition reliability need to be very high, automobile manufacturers such as BMW, Peugeot and Porsche use BERU spark plugs with platinum electrodes.
Technical Features
* Centre and, if required, ground electrodes made of special materials, for example silver for high thermal conductivity or platinum for extremely high resistance to erosion
* Optimal, environmentally friendly combustion: saves fuel and protects the catalytic converter
* Long life, high dependability
* Good cold starting properties
* Excellent mixture access
* First equipment quality
Platinum — the special spark plug: Electrodes with platinum armouring ensure an extremely high burn-off resistance.
Notes:
Tightening Torque: 23 +3 Nm or 17+2 ft-lb (unlubricated)
As modern engines become more efficient and compact, engine components such as Spark Plugs are required to become smaller too. NGK have recognised this and assisted by developing Bi-Hex Spark Plugs.
Traditionally, Spark Plugs have been designed with a hexagonal socket style. The Bi-Hex design provides increased strength compared to a traditional hexagonal design, allowing for a more compact spark plug without compromising strength requirements.
For the R55/56/57 Cooper models with production dates from 09/2009, see G2NME3014.
For the Cooper S model, see G2NME3010.
See NME3010 for 2002 - 2006 R50 / R53 MINI Cooper and Cooper S Hatchback, and 2005 - 2008 R52 MINI Convertibles Spark Plugs.
See the Professional Grade Bi-Hex Spart Plug Socket here.
