What is the difference between the front splitter and the front spoiler?

In the simplest of terms, the splitter splits the air going over the car and under the car. By smoothing the airflow under the car, a low pressure area can be created producing downforce. The front splitter is most effective when used in conjunction with a rear diffuser.

The front spoiler helps to direct the airflow over and around the car. By altering the air flow, coefficient of drag and lift is reduced making the car more stable at speed.
