The filter element for the automatic Mini prior to the MPi is about twice as long as the standard element, and is mounted horizontally. Remove the grill for access. Approx size 5 1/4" long & 2 1/5 diameter.
Mini Auto only. Paper element for canister type Automatic Mini from the original approved and designated Rover/Unipart source.
Much taller than the manual type this filter has to do a lot of work and fits every mini automatic made, but not ADO16 models of 4 door 1100/1300 saloons. The ADO16 use GFE122 which is no longer in stock.

Question:
The canister holding the oil filter on our SPI automatic feels quite flimsy and easily crushable when trying to get a good seal. Is there a more robust canister available?
Answer:
Not sure about the automatic power units canister - we only sell filters and use canisters for the manual cars. And we only have the one automatic filter available: https://www.minimania.com/part/GFE104/Austin-Mini-Oil-Filter-Element-For-The-Automatic
