Steel 4-bolt center main cap set for 1275 A+ Mini engines - 4-bolt center cap and the two end caps with a full set of grade 8 bolts. This set has no machined thrust surfaces on the center cap to fit crank thrust as found on higher spec competition engines. For the kit without the grade 8 bolts, see part MINICOMPSET.
On all performance A series engines it is essential to ensure as accurate location of the center main bearing of the crankshaft as possible. Flex allowed here, especially at sustained high RPM levels, can cause spun bearings, crank or main cap breakage with severe or mortal damage to the engine. This specially machined cap provides the ultimate center main location, essential for all stroked engines.
Requires line boring and two extra holes drilled into the block and tapped 3/8" UNF.

Could you explain why this 4 bolt main cap does not have a surface machined to take thrusts. Do you have it machined to suit or does it take a special thrust that does not require a cut out?
Answer:
No, thrust washer face cut because it uses the top half of the thrust washer only - not ideal for a streetcar being on and off the clutch a lot or riding the clutch. It's typical for competition engines and it reduces machining costs for the end-user.
