Question:
Did a motor swap on a 2005 Mini Cooper R50 1.6 none s cvt trans..... the problem I am having after installing the cv axles. The driver side seems to not go in all the way and leaks fluid I have even pulled the driver side CV axle three different times and have also replaced the seals. And everytime after moving the car there is a leak.. does the driver side have to go in before the passenger? or does it have to be in neutral or some type of weird combo for putting this axle in. I have tried everything the axle seems to be completely in and the seal is done correctly and every time its reinstalled no matter what I do or how I do it it... leaks from the driver side. What is going on?
Answer:
Here are a couple of lines from the install procedure that might be pertinent:

"Depress special tool 24 8 120 on shaft seal. Make sure the tool fits over the sealing ring lip so that the sealing ring is protected when the drive shaft is inserted."

"Push drive shaft over the resistance of snap ring. The drive shaft must snap audibly into place."
