BMW is denying that it could be sold to Ford or VW very soon. The Quandt family, which has a 48 per cent stake in the firm, is said to want £20billion, insiders claim. According to a BMW executive, Ford would buy BMW and Rolls-Royce, then sell Rolls to VW, which already owns Bentley. But Ford and VW both want the Mini. Meanwhile a new consortium which is trying to buy Rover and is headed by ex-boss John Towers is said to want to purchase another British brand such as Triumph or Austin Healey from BMW. However, the German firm dismissed all the speculation.
