have signed up with Dyrk in Canada as a trade partner here in California, so Local guys can order through me, but Spitz, you are in Canada, so doesn't make sense to ship tires down here then back to Canada.  You can save the extra shipping by buying direct from Dyrk Bolger; CMW in Manitoba.

side view of specs.  these are an inch wider tread, than the A032s, as will be the Hoosiers, but without any tread grooves.

Got the first 6 American Racing slicks today. they look better than I thought and are definitely softer than My old goodyears and A032s that are on the car.  Mounted on 6.5 wide wheels, but made for 6s.  These were way easier to mount than the Goodyears, I didn't make a mark on the wheels using my NEW home made changer.

I have not been billed yet, so don't know the all-in price.  Pics sitting next to A032s:

Still working on the NZ/Hoosier slicks deal. I think the "squeeky wheel" has got their attention at Hoosier and they will probably be making a "SHORT" run of those tires for the NA market by June, but pricey @ 169$ each.  I am expecting to get 6 to 10 of those through the NZ distributor, because I didn't get enough response from the Mini comunity to make the 60 tire minimum required by Hoosier; going through the NZ Dist. is proving dificult to deal with so far.  If you want tires, speak up here or better email me;  the more we order the bigger voice we have.  See next page for another pic

they were bought new in 2002, so about 10 years old, but have been bagged in black plastic trash bags and never opened, so should be ok. Probably not as good as a fresh set, but plenty good for street use.  the set on my car now, (almost worn bald) was bought a year earlier, and has been out in the smog and sun for 11 years, still works good on the street, (better than A008s) but definately are not as grippy as a new set of 32s would be on the track. the bagged ones would be ok I am sure, but If you are racing, I would get something better than 32s anyway.

What's the production date on the 032s?

those would be the 18x7.5x10 slicks for formula 500 cars.  some guys use them here for autocross, in the narrower size; 18x6x10.  I would like to try a set of the wider ones, but need 8" wide wheels, which I don't have, and all the extra width must go to the outside, which I am pretty sure will make high powered cars next to impossible to steer straight under power.  I am thinking about making up some longer custom upper and lower arms, to push the hubs out farther into the wheels.  That would cure the issue I think. but for now, I need to get tires on it asap for the spring/summer events.  still offering my new (unmounted) AO32s for 80$ apiece.

I talked to Dyrk a couple times, but he is not answering my latest emails on Availability and price.  Probably on vacation or something.  I will keep after it.

The picture of Graham's tire is the American Racer.  They are not listed on thier website as they are a low production tire made for Australia.  If you're interested in them you need to call Dyrk Bolger @ //www.classicmotorworks.citymax.com/page/page/1875856.htm in Manitoba.  They are cheaper than the Hoosier TD Vintage tire as well.

Cheers

Dennis

BOBB

So is that an American Racing tire? I looked at their whole line up and could not find one with that tread pattern. Which model tire is it?

That blistered tire was on Graham Russell's car, he says they work fine except on long sweeping turns where they have time to overheat. The next generation (third) will have stiffer sidewalls and harder compound so he tells me as he has tested for them. BOBB

The way I understand it...you can't run too soft a tire in 10s on a Mini because of heat dissipation issues (tire gets to hot and fails) so people went to larger diameter tires to fight this. This is shown on the tire that has blistered. To soft a tire for the type of driving. If you run 10s you can run soft but too soft and find something as wide as possible (less weight per sq in). The problem is that in street legal tires, there is nothing wider than 165 and since there is little demand there won't be any development. So people have gone to 13s. Problem is that the geometry is for 10s not 13s. People try to offset this by running wider larger diameter tires to offset the loss of geometry with increased tire width. What I would love to see is someone like Toyo make a 225/35/10 in their Proxies 888. Wide enough and a great compound as well as tire structure. It's nice to dream.

those are not the right tires.  they would not work on a Mini.  I ran into the same tires when researching the American Racing distributors.  They don't seem to know about the ones made for Minis, which, except for the listed size, are entirely different. There is only one NA distributor that claims to have had and sold them before, and I am having trouble getting availability and pricing from him.  When I do, I will post here.  Don't even consider the dirt track tires....they are flimsey like an inner-tube and soft; made for little 600 pound dirt cars and ATCs.

The American Racer 18.0-6.0-10GT are listed as ATV sprint racer dirt track tires //www.americanraceronline.com/ATV-Tires/mircosprint.html The California distributor has them listed for <85 each. There is no info on max rec load. The hardest compound is SD38 which is on the very soft end of the spectrum. I have no idea how many laps on a hot day these might be good for.
