Timing is handled by a Megajolt system, compression I believe was at 8.5:1 but i'd have to go back to my notes to check.  I feel like the turbo might be a touch big, there's a little lag in it, but fun all around.

Still got to take it to the dyno, but all i can say again is, it's SUPER FUN.

why reinvent the wheel and make your own parts?  why not just by the pieces from an mg metro turbo?  i had a complete set up i sold to a local guy here several years ago and i think he still has it and would most likely sell if he does.  they can be bought fairly common on ebay uk or the turbomini forum

That said, you could say we had (cough cough) "reliability problems". I'm eager to give it another go, but lately I've been opting to err on the side of reliability for my drivers who are somewhat less enthusiastic about experimental drivetrains.

I second the advice to go to the turbominis website for more specific advice.

If you want a 998, 1098, or even a 1275, I can help you out with some options if you're local.

I don't like blow through or suck through turbos. If I were to go the turbo route, I'd also want to go te EFI of some sort, but at that point it would be cheaper to find a 1275.

Nothing is so bad that you can't make it worse by doing something rash or going berserk.

I'll look and see if I have a extra rhb31 turbo I know I have at least one left but I'm saving it for just what you are doing. One problem with the 850 is no front cam bearing so valve spring and cam upgrades are limited (you can machine the block and add front bearing) and pistons are hard to come by.

But if you are just mildly boosting a stock 850 should be fine. also as jimfai said superchargers are out there. I think they use the ones off the new mini.

I think that's the turbo that came on my 1989 Chevy Sprint Turbo 1 ltr - (998) Stock 70hp but 100ftlbs of torque - the thing is with turbo's, you can get em to give a bit more power by monkeying with the boost. Lot's of people like the G10T 3 cyl engine. $250 for a turbo! should try one myself

Check out the Turbominis link below. Info on just about any setup you could want to do. Plenty of 850 turbos on there. Good luck!

You could get it to out perform a stock 998 by installing twin HS2 carbs ( correct needle ), good air filters and a Cooper exhaust manifold.........like the Sports 850

Thanks for the prompt reply. Can you tell me the difference? I know the turbo works simply with the exhast gases and increase the air flor into the the explosion chamber.

Do you know of any brand name? THX again
