Funny how people look at this topic. I have owned minis since Labor Day weekend 1968 never selling one without

buying another first maybe more than just another. Don't recall how many I have owned but only my 64 1071 S

is a RHD car. If I can close the deal on a 64 LHD 1275 S I may let the 1071 go. Please don't contact me about the

1071. As mentioned I won't sell one till it's replacement is in house. I drive customer RHD street and race cars all

the time. Worst part is coming out of store jumping in closing door only to realize wheel is on other side. While my

driver has twin tanks large left and S right I like the idea of a single tank S. The 1275 is a LHD twin tank dry car.

Perhaps the last Cooper S I will need. Will look funny with just a right hand tank installed. Steve (CTR)

PS Sorry missed the point, I think what you will be satisfied with will cost a little more than you have budgeted.

What a great idea! It just seems so obvious! Please try this, and enlighten us as to how this works out for you.

Have you ever wondered then how come our host offers both left hand drive racks and right hand drive racks? Maybe they are pulling a fast one on you.

You NEED to use a RHD accelerator pedal and you NEED to use a RHD steering rack. LHD parts in both cases can NOT be turned "in such a way", thus they will NOT work! I'm not a long time forum member and I may not have many posts, but I've done enough RHD to LHD and LHD to RHD conversions in my 45 plus years of wrenching on Minis to know what works and what doesn't when dealing with these conversions.

changing LHD to RHD is just simply unbolting the steering rack and steering column and brackets and moving it to the right side, now the steering rack needs to be turned in such a way that the gears are exactly aligned to the column, you also need to re-locate the master cylinders brakes pedals and gas pedals, unless you really have long legs and you can manage to stretch them to the other side.... now tell me bluefox, do you need to buy anything??? cors not !! just use the old rack and column and U-bolts, that's what i meant by "no money involved"...my goodness bluefox, you disappoint me everyday. i just ate my lunch and you just made me feel hungry again,  you know it takes a tremendous amount of energy when i speak and write in english words...i'm still learning. be gentle

btw, the shifter stays in the middle....and im sure of that.

was trying to give you a link to amazon.com to a book called "How to Modify Your Mini" by David Vizard.  Easy read and well worth the investment before you buy a mini.

I've never had an issue driving my RHD Mini, and it's a Van with limited visibility. Just need to be alert and use mirrors. My other cars are LHD and I've never gotten confused or banged any doors...

RHD is a PITA  to drive.    especially all your other cars are LHDs.  you'll get confused and bang the side door all the time.

What are you saying Bill? Of course classic Minis come in LHD. Millions of them. Mine looks like the real deal - a left-hander born in England. It even smells like a British car.

Check out the Oregon club. Lots of members who might help you out with this or that. Monthly newsletter, tours, events, tech sessions, etc. There were some Minis for sale at last weekend's All British Field Meet, the annual Labor Day event. Hope you find the right car!

Those were great video's.

I'm out in Oregon and my budget would be around $15,000+-.  I like working on my cars, I've rebuilt everything in my Porsche myself except the transmission, which I had done.  I would prefer the 1275-1380 engine but it would be nice if it were upgraded.  I see MiniMania sells "crate" motors for around $8000+.  I have never driven a mini so I need to find one and take a ride.  Any cars west of the Rockies I would be interested in.

I'm going to be in the Montery, Calif area the week of Sept 20-27 for the Porsche Rennsport Reunion.  I saw a couple cars for sale in the Bay area so maybe I could find one to look at.

Is there another site to find early Mini's besides this one?
