The switch turns on and allows adjustment of fan speed from full speed to slower in a clockwise direction. Also used as panel dimmer for Triumph TR6. Part number 78405-knob  will fit this switch and is sold separately.

This is also the panel dimmer switch for MG Midgets from Aug of 1972 onward.

Question:
Is this the same type of switch used on the early Mini 59/60 cars?
Answer:
Likely not, but it's probably similar. I think this one is technically for a panel lams dimmer from a Triumph.
