The "pinion" component of "rack & pinion" steering racks. In older cars with lots of miles, these do take a beating. Even if the gear teeth are good often the hardened surface that fits into the pinion cover can get badly pitted or worn away. Originally, these pinions with the machined groove in the splines were used up to GAN4-61165 & HAN9-72528 when the pinons were replaced by a different style. Those pinions are NLA now (BTA941/42). This pinion will still work in all racks up to GAN5-114642 & H-AN10/A-AN10 when the Spitfire rack was used. For all Sprites & Midgets and also fits RHD racks on Morris Minors up to 1972.
