All Bugeyes and the early square nose Sprites (any and all models with quarter elliptic rear springs) use a trailing arm to locate the rear spring. In stock form these arms are rubber mounted and perform several key functions But that's a lot of work for a rubber mounted arm! If you are serious about driving your car you need to upgrade this system. The ultimate answer is heim jointed, adjustable arms! (Rod End is 7/16-20 x 2.125"). You should re-use the factory spacers with these arms - if new spacers are needed see AHA5224. Adjustable from 12-14" total length.

The arm provides total control for two of the original functions. And of course to be perfect for two functions (Twist and fore and aft movement), lateral location (side to side) must be provided by added controls such as provided by a Panhard bar!

The heim jointed arms are made of high grade aluminum - light weight and strong! Looks and feels great!

Question:
What is the useable length range of these, eye to eye? What size heim joint is used in the sprite/midget trailing arms? Looking for a set that will work on my Lotus Seven replica.
Answer:
Eye center to eye center at the shortest length is just about 12" even. Likely you could adjust these out to 13.75" or a little further safely.
The heim joints are 2.125". Thanks.
