Under hard use the brake pad surface emits gasses which cause the pads to plane over the surface of the rotors. The grooves in these slotted rotors channel the gasses away from the braking surface and reduce brake fade. The grooves also reduce pad material build-up on the rotor surface and minimize glazing.
