Any time you are under the car it is a good idea to check out the brake hoses. If there are signs of wetness or cracking, it is past time to replace them. They should not, after all, be expected to last more than 20 years! Besides external signs, brake hoses can swell internally, causing partial blockage of the hose; symptoms of this include dragging brakes or a pedal that is slow to return. There are two hoses in the front (CBS122) and one in the rear (CBS300 on vans & pick-ups); all three should be changed together.
