There are two different types of coolant temperature sensors, a 'straight' type sensor (MINIs produced between 2007-02/2013) and an 'angled' type for MINIs (produced early 2013 to 2016.) Make a physical inspection of the thermostat housing on your MINI to see which one your MINI requires.

Some models manufactured between 08/2010-03/2012 have the temp sensor 'molded into' the thermostat housing and are not replaceable. If you have one of these housings with the molded in temperature sensor and you don't have any coolant leaking issues around the housing, there is a Temperature Sensor Bypass Adapter to work around the faulty coolant temperature reading. If you have coolant leaking issues, you should update to a newer version of the thermostat housing - take a look at the Thermostat Housing Application Guide to see which one you need.

Question:
I am replacing the coolant temperature sensor on my 2013 MINI Cooper Countryman. I am looking to be guided in the right direction for purchasing the correct sensor and o-ring parts.
Answer:
Are you looking to replace the temp sensor at the top of the thermostat housing?

If so, your MINI should have a removable 'straight' sensor G2NME1110 - confirm this before ordering. Be aware that there is another temp sensor molded into the bottom side of the thermostat housing that cannot be replaced. If that sensor is causing problems, then you need to replace the entire thermostat housing.

The correct replacement thermostat housing for your MINI is our G2NME1125 and your MINI does not require any adapters.

Due to some initial design issues, the Thermostat Housing has evolved through several iterations. The Temperature Sensor is also located on the housing, and can be removed on some versions of the housing, and molded into the housing on other versions.
