COOPER S WITH PULLEY UPGRADE MULTI-GROUND:
Replacement performance spark plugs for the MINI Cooper S with the pulley upgrade, sold each. 'Cooler' temperature rating than stock. 14mm, 3/4" reach, 2 ground electrodes. Pre-gapped.
COOPER S WITH PULLEY UPGRADE - IRIDIUM:
We have selected the NGK Iridium IX Spark plug to run with MINI Cooper Ss equipped with the high performance supercharger pulley. This Iridium IX spark plug is rated a step 'cooler' than stock to reduce the likelihood of detonation, and features a .6mm iridium center electrode which offers superior ignitability without sacrificing durability. The tapered ground electrode of the spark plug increases flame kernel expansion, while the superior heat range design is ideally suited to the demands of high performance MINI Cooper S environments. Spark plugs come pre-gapped. 4 required per car.
• Fine Iridium tip ensures high durability
• Extremely durable under high heat
• “Trivalent Metal Plating” has superior anti-corrosion and anti-seizing properties
• Faster starts and quicker acceleration
• Better fuel economy and lower emissions
• Best platinum spark plug at an economical cost
COOPER & COOPER S - MULTI-GROUND PLATINUM:
A great replacement for the stock plugs in your MINI Cooper (non-S), or the equivalent to factory replacement for the Cooper S.
Multi-ground electrodes improve ignition capabilities and are less sensitive to increased voltage requirements due to gap growth. Designed to specific manufacturer ignition requirements in either supplementary gap, intermittent discharge, or semi-surface discharge, all for various firing tip self cleaning abilities. Platinum center electrode for extended life. Multi-ground plugs maintain all features of NGK's traditional plugs including corrugated ribs, pure alumina silicate ceramic insulator for greater strength and better heat transfer, copper core and triple interior seal. Pre-gapped to 0.032".
Some combustion chamber designs require that the spark plugs have the ground electrode placed to the side of the center electrode rather than below as on a traditional plug. This firing tip design tends to erode the tip of the ground electrode faster than a traditional plug, erosion at these points creates a larger gap between the center and ground electrodes causing plug misfire. Thus by having more ground electrodes you extend plug life. It is important to note that multi-ground does not mean multi-spark, there will still only be one spark at a time.
COOPER S JCW - MULTI-GROUND PLATINUM:
Same plug as above except with a slightly cooler temperature for the JCW Supercharger.
COOPER & COOPER S W/STOCK PULLEY - IRIDIUM:
A great upgrade / replacement for your stock MINI Cooper or Cooper S.
NGK iridium plugs represent the ultimate evolution of spark plug technology and performance. The iridium center electrode is both stronger and harder than platinum. This allows NGK engineers to design an ultra-fine (0.6mm)center electrode reducing the voltage requirement for spark. This allows for a brighter, stronger spark from your existing ignition system. The ground electrode has a tapered cut at the firing end which reduces quenching for better flame core growth and increased ignitability. The combination of fine wire center electrode and tapered cut ground will increase performance, improve acceleration, and fuel efficiency. Pre-gapped to 0.032".
Advantages of Iridium spark plug types
Because of the properties of Iridium, the spark plugs centre electrode can be made with a much smaller diameter than with platinum types (0.6mm), Gold or gold palladium and copper/nickel types. This means that spark plugs potential difference is more concentrated and hence less 'spark jump' voltage is required - this can be as much as 5,000 volts less than with standard plug types. Ignition is improved and less strain is placed on the ignition system. Benefits of improved ignition/combustion include better fuel economy, increased power/acceleration and especially better throttle response.
Iridium: 8 times stronger than platinum, 6 times harder, and with a melting point 1200 degrees higher. New laser welding techniques make it possible to make a spark plug with an iridium electrode. The result is a plug that requires less voltage to spark, burns more of the fuel in the cylinder, and can spark at LEANER air/fuel mixtures, resulting in higher horsepower and better gas mileage. Although the plugs are expensive, you don't have to change them as often as garden variety spark plugs. The iridium electrode is extremely resistant to erosion, so it can last MUCH longer than a normal plug. (Longevity will vary by usage, fuel mixture, and other factors.)
COOPER S STOCK PULLEY - PLATINUM:
Laser Platinum® spark plugs provide high ignitability and longer service life. Dual platinum surfaces ensure slow wear rate providing stable idle, superior anti fouling, improved fuel efficiency and lower emissions.

PLATINUM'S USE IN SPARK PLUG CONSTRUCTION Nearly all spark plug manufacturers use platinum in one form or another on their long life or performance spark plugs. This is because of platinum’s high melting point, which makes it useful in two ways. On long life spark plugs a thin wafer of platinum is bonded at the firing point to the center electrode (and possibly ground electrode) solely so they don’t wear as fast as a traditional plug. On a fine wire performance plug, the very tip of the center electrode is made of platinum so that the fine wire tip will last longer. Do not be fooled, all platinum plugs are not created equal. Platinum is a very expensive precious metal, a $2 platinum spark plug will not have much platinum in it, and therefore will not last as long as a $12 platinum spark plug. Some platinum plugs have only the center electrode tipped with platinum, while others have both the center and ground electrodes platinum tipped.
Subject to manufacturers warranty.
NOTE: MINI specifies spark plugs should be torqued 'unlubricated' to 27 Nm.
MINI factory says to torque the spark plugs 'unlubricated'.
Others say to us nickel or zinc. Some say it doesn't matter which you use for the spark plugs.
I would make sure the threads are clean and install dry.
If you choose to use anti-seize, make sure it is a very small amount.
