Question:
good morning. I aminterested in the 175/50 x 13 yoko tires for my 1970 MG Midget. My midget has 13" chrome wire wheels that came with it when I bought it new some 50 years ago!!!!! Do you know if installing these tires on the square wheel well cars will fit without rubbing. I currently have 165/70 x 13" tires on it and they rubbed slightly on the fender lip which I ground off. Thanks for the help. Hope you know someone who has this setup.
Answer:
Hard to know. These tires are wider but not as tall. 50 series tires may mitigate the rubbing as the sidewall isn't as tall as your 70's but since the tire is wider they may still rub. Unless you have a good reason to go wider I would stick with the tires that work.
