I HAVE NOT DONE SINGLE CAM BUT SHOULD FIT EASYER BECAUSE THE INTAKE IS SMALLER, THE TWINCAM IS A TUNE PORT

TO FIT IN A ROUND NOISE I HAD TO MOVE THE STEERING RACK BACK AN 1 1/2 TO CLEAR THE DIFF AND CUT A HOLE IN THE FIREWALL FOR THE INTAKE.  THE GOOD NEWS IS THE TWINCAM COMES STOCK WITH A 105 HP PLUS WHAT THE HEADER AND FREE LOW EXHAST GIVE . THE GAS MILEAGE ON THE GREEN CAR IS 32MPG. I MOVE THE ALT DOWN TO THE FRONT BY THE OIL FILTER

Don

That one is a carb model and was a rustbucket (I think I recognize the diamond plate on the subframe fabrication) - I have a FI Turbo 3 cyl in a customized 75 Mini - finally located a parts Turbo Sprint after 2 years of trying to try side by side to get the mini one running (actually haven't been trying too hard) Go to the 16vMini forum for better info. G10 1.0L FI has similar power as a regular 1275 but lighter, 5 spd & and fuel injected. Most peeps do the 1.3L DOHC, some do the turbo (all reports are great on that one) and a few are doing the NA 1.0L 3 cyl. I'm pretty much a cruiser so the regular ol' 3 cyl will be good. Some people have already done on this forum - just do a search. WierdEh & 911T have done the regular 3 cyls I believe. Have to tilt the engine forward a bit & move the alternator above the intake manifold. One guy on the 16v Forum even stuck his in a regular Mini subby ala BigChief in Trinidad

For me it was measuring the axle lenghts for both sides, then cutting the original Mini and Sprint axles using the Suzuki/Sprint inner half with the Mini outer half. Then the two were put together with an outer sleeve to join them together pinned and welded, this was done for me by a driveshaft builder. Every thing was checked for balance and straightness and so far no problems, you can have a machine shop spline the axles so the respective inner and outer cv joints fit without having to do what i did.

Cheers Minsuki. P.S go to Minimikes website and look at the ones i did for the Clubman Estate with the Suzuki G13b engine.

Hi everyone, as Cup Cake said it was done quite a few years ago and i believe that conversion was mine. I lived in Tampa a few years back and was a member of Flame, the original car i did had the Sprint Turbo 3 cyl engine in it.The car is currently parked in the garage with my Clubman Estate which has the G13b 4cyl engine in it.To be honest i much prefer the turbo 3 than the N/A 4 cyl guess i am addicted to the torque from the turbo 3cyl.I am actually considering selling the complete engine swap from the Clubman and installing another turbo 3 into it also. The 3 cyl turbo was rated from the factory at 70hp and 107 pound ft of torque,if i recall i checked to see what the weight of the 3 cyl engine and trans was and if memory serves it was around 150lbs minus starter, alternator, intake manifold.Boy was i shocked at the performance of that engine considering the weight difference between the 1275 that i originally had in the car,i even took the car to the strip in Bradenton Fl and could not get the car to hook up even with the tires running around 20psi smoked the tires in 1st then 2nd and a little in 3rd when it finally hooked up.Funny thing is on the trip from Florida to Maryland on the Interstate it turned 50.2 mpg at a steady 65mph, if i went up to 70mph i dropped to 44 mpg,top end speed, it would do 115mph before the fuel cut shut it down.I guess what i'm trying to say is that the swap is a blast and should be considered as an alternative to the Minis engine.

Cheers Minsuki.

Breadbox, I know you have dabbled in lots of various swaps. Have you ever done a G10 swap, or used a Chevy Sprint G10 turbo motor? Any pitfalls? Any benefits of the Suzuki Twincam over the G10 setup, other than more power, cooler hallowed cams, etc?

i have been putting suzuki twincam in minis for a couple of years and they are a great running engine with a decent 5 speed and is a very civilized driving car

they also are 100lbs lighter than the mini engine so they do not upset the basic handling of the car  the only draw back is the swift gt are getting hard to find

the one in the pic has been on the road for a couple of years with minor problems

I am not trying to recreate the wheel. I know it's been done. I have spoken with Chuck/Porsche911T, I bought the 998 off of him when he was doing his Geo swap. Saw it first hand and have spoken extensively about his experience with the swap. I am just proposing a more bolt on affair with a bolt on power adder that has been developed and tested. Basically a different swap option then what is offered currently in the U.S. from Minitec and Ramco/Steve Alexander. Always good to have more choices. Looks like I am going to move forward with the project. I figured frame kit to get the stock G10 engine in, stage 2 for people looking to get a little more grunt out of it can have a bolt on Turbo kit that fits for the conversion.

Been on that site doing some research for a while now. Turbinetech stuff looks good, but we will be building it all in house. Even the manifolds... But the frame kit is phase 2. I am developing another mini product first to see how that pans out. Hope to start getting this project going withing the next 2 months. Should be fun!
