1200 lbs all in, as light as a MK I Mini and lighter than your MK III mini.

Took mine to coffee with "Old Farts" this morning....(members of our Brit Car Club). Few MGs, Land Rovers, Triumphs, a Delorean and our Mini. Sat & bitched about Lucas, oil leaks and how we really have the most fun when something needs to be fiddled with. Do it every Wednesday.

Oh you guys in BC are lucky….probably the best climate in CA

We've been getting up to zero, but will drop to -30 before spring decides to come.

If it counts….I've been working on my "wall art"…front end of a classic….still waiting to find a grille.
Was able to drill holes in the back of sealed beams and have figured out a good way to hold chandeler bulbs for headlights

Installed a viscous crankshaft damper, cut off the upper and lower plates on the HIF44 bi-metal temp compensator, adjusted valves, installed H & H electronic ignition, adjusted mixture and timing-all ready for dyno day.

Well, i replaced the wheel cylinder seals, fiddle with the carb, soon, as per sir jeg & sir dan's advice i will put the old circular spaceship looking air filter, but i have to look for a bolt because i used the old bolt on my new shiny chrome intake pipe and modified it, I may need to secure one...then soon too i will replace the throttle shaft per tinsmith's advice, and also not very soon i will replace the cones in the front. Now the suspension arms sits on the rubber bump stop, not good.  But as is, my miini starts and runs great, it just get a liiiitle rough when the air gets into the worn throttle shaft. It leans the mixture shet. , im not in a hurry tho, this is a running project, i drive it and enjoy it as i restore it. (Hmm, nice sayings, it rhymes)

this is not a money know how project, it's definitely done on a budget.

Put the new Minivation bonnet hinges on. Still working the bugs out since I have some interference with my AC hoses. Pretty cool though.

I didn't drive the mini at all yesterday, as I spent the day helping a friend move. This morning, instead of moving other cars and trucks around it just seemed to make more sense to turn the mini around in the garage to come out on the other side of the driveway. I am always surprised at how easy this is.

Is Army Cook still busy pulling his engine out? Is he headed up to LA to buy that MG 1100?

What kind of lift is that under your Mini in the photo? Available? Pricey?
How do you like it? Is it stable with the Mini up that high? Do you have it bolted to the floor?
Dan i have a Bend Pack portable scissor lift. Like Brad i bought it off Craigslist for $800 used only three times by the PO (new they are around $2k). It is a 6000lb lift and will lift the car 48 inches. I don't bother using the support arms on a Mini instead i have two pieces of PT lumber that supports the car all the way along the sills/floor it is the perfect length for a Mini and is totally stable. I also got two probably around 2.5 feet high jack stands which are useful when you need to supports another part. I use it all the time even when just working under the bonnet it is nice to have the car at the height you need it. The best tool i ever bought and no trips to the chiropractor lately .
