Topic: ..about the breather hose being connected to the carb. A message for FAB60 ( i believehis name is Fabian and he's 60y)
I remember DM said one time that if you connect the crankcase breather hose to the carb it might upset the carb tunning, the carb might run rich. Hmm yah, It makes a lot of sense because the fumes that's comming out from the breather hose is still flamable.
ps: and no such thing as reducer, if the inlet hose is smaller, just use zip tie to tighten it. No biggie !!

I honestly don't know HOW a side exit exhaust can minimize exhaust fumes dramatically more than the center exit...
both exhaust are directed towards the back, i don't see the point. ,, maybe he's joking...can't stop laughin' here..
conclusion: you will always, and always smell fumes when driving a classic mini, because first it runs with carburetor, second, it doesnt have catalytic converter.
think the american way,,, not the london way !!

This is with regards to the topic on the other thread about Fumes that took 11 days to resolve.
When there is excessive cabin fumes don't be blaming holes in the body panels, , ,,99.99% of the time the culprit is the carb running RICH.. And also the fumes gets inside thru the window not thru the holes.. Im surprised nobody mentioned about carb running rich.
And also it doesn matter if there are holes in the exhaust, because the exhaust and muffler is outside the car, not inside. Basically, if you smell fumes, carb tunning is the next step.
glad you finally resolved the issue

I got so mad this morning when i saw this picture of a re-sized/cut classic mini, and apparently the owner who posted it said that they have a CLUB or a Group and all they own are these tiny cut/resized mini, and he said that they are still recruiting members, i'm like really?? he must be nuts, he must not have realized that he is not just destroying a classic mini, he is destroying the HISTORY that goes with it. He is turning a nice classic mini into a non street legal mini, and they THOUGHT it looks nice, but in my opinion, nope!!! it looks Awful !!! Looks like a liitle boys car from Toys"R"Us
Ok it might be street legal yes, but who in this planet has a scrotum to drive that in the highway beside a truck or an SUV?? jeezus!!
The classic mini officials or Paddy Hopkirk or whoever should make a stand and put up a LAW to inhibit these kinds of mini slaughtering, before we loose All the nicest classic minis in this Planet....GOSH 'IM SO MAD!
thanks for letting me vent out..
edited: nobody replied..,,because they all agree in what i said.

sure Aaron, no problem! But you mentioned about priveledge, i think you are wrong, it's not a priveledge, it's more of "equality", equality for all, if you and others can post whatever you want, and so can i..... i mean you say that you have the more "right" because you are from new york and i'm an Asian? i know that's what you are trying to point out.. ,,,easy willya?!! i am a member of 38 different forums across the internet( make it 39), and i know how to read peoples mind and their intentions. i don't care if you're a Project manager somewhere but here we are all equal...copish?!!

Please stop posting on others' threads. You really do ruin it for the rest of us. Not to mention, you're certainly making things confusing for new owners that come here to obtain relevant and good advice and information about their cars. In addition, you're driving away people from this forum that I, and countless others, have relied on for years for good opinions and accurate information.
You've carved out this little space, which I can't for the life on me understand why you continue to have the privilege of occupying, so please stay here.

thewerewolf,
Me personally, i wouldn't dare flying to a far place, purchase a classic mini and drive it home, nope never, not even the most well maintained classic mini, not even a japan mini, you know why ? Honestly, i am not too confident about an engine that shares OIL for both motor and transmission, here's my logic, a typical motor uses 5w 30 or 10w 40 WHILE a typical transmission uses thicker oil maybe 20w50 etc, these two type of oil has a big difference when it comes to viscosity, THEN you'll use it to run both departments??? omg! you know what kills a good motor? ------> HEAT !!!!! and if you do long drives and get stuck in traffic, that's when the temp gauge soar up high because optimum lubrication is not met. Ever wonder why a typical, conventional car using separate oil for trans and motor does NOT overheat? it's because it's using PROPER oil for proper application !!!!
To me driving my mini around town is OK, but interstates and highways for 65mph+ nope, not my cup of tea., i love myself more than i love my mini.

worse comes to shove, i will just do what joe curto did, he used same shaft and a copper ring then he drilled the hole to fit the ring, then slide the old shaft into the tight ring.,problem solved!,
right now , i just slapped handful of thick grease around the shaft and hole to minimize the leak., it's working but not to it's full potential., i hate to loose 5Hp due to leaking carb shaft., i need to address the problem.

Nobody is going to have an over sized shaft laying around and if they do it is sure not taking up any space in their garage and after your last example(s) of taking people up on an offer for FREE parts i am guessing no one will reply.
Don't be a tightwad for once call Joe Curto and order the correct part.

To all you Hoarders out there, i'm looking for an oversized throttle shaft for my worn out HS4 SU carburetor, Please Un-earth your piles and piles of mini parts inside your garage, if you have one laying around , im willing to buy it or take it away from your hands so you can re-gain the space back in your garage.
All i need is an oversized throttle shaft., i dunno what size is, i can't give you a number, but i do know it should be oversized, specifically for HS4 carb only.
now, I need to send a friend request to Joe Curto in his Facebook account for some tutorial
thanks in Advance..---Tony
