So i replaced my AAC needle with AAD, the lower end is awsome i get nice relaxed acceleration but the top end is a bit crap, past 40 mph engine vibrates a little which means it getting richer.
amazing how a hairlike difference in size of the needle affects the performance of the car. These SU carbs are not simple at all, there a lot to determine for it to run perfect.. Haaaay , i wanna try the Weber decoy. It's More precise and can hold tune forever once dialed in. The SU components wears out easily , the shaft wears out, the needle wears out, the jet wears out, the spring loose its tension, the oil in the dashpot disappears, the valve stop wears out,,, haaaaay, im not impressed with su carbs. It's not a precision carb.

AND it was to solve the problem that even with NO SHIMS, the joint was too loose. The dome nut was lapped down to provide the correct amount of resistance with the lock-tab washer in place but NO SHIMS. Final assembly for that joint contained NO SHIMS.

As i browse the forum, i see someone is having an issue on his balljoint ,shim etc... well i had the same problem when i was installing my disc brakes, i tightented the dome with the lock tab (MINUS the shim) all the way down and it tightened perfectly. i asked someone and he said to put the shim,no matter what, so i put the shim then tightened all the way down, THEN it was loose. so my common sense told me that off course, without a shim it was tight all the way down , why would there be a need to put a shim?????? only to get loose?? NOW it's been almost a year and my balljoint is still tight and not loose, just perfect. I therefore conclude that : SHIMS comes with the kit but should NOT necessarily be used. it's just a back up in case there's a need. it's not a must to use it. it's not written in stones that it should always be used. some people even orders extra shims, i'm like really? but it it's a case to case basis. it's not that if you don't put shims you will get into an accident.. nope! it doesn't work that way.

The truth behind the Boneville mini race... The so called almighty new zealand built red mini stalled and didnt finish the race, the driver un-buckle seat belt and immediately stepped out of the car thinking it will explode ,he also took off all his harness ,gloves and helmet as if he wants to throw fit because his mini stalled in the middle of nowhere, THEN he stopped the video he doesnt want people to see and hear that he was crying in the backkground.. You know with all seriousness-ness , 998 is not bad at all. I just got home from a 10sh mile drive around the neighborhood and my miini is so nimble, i dunno what that word means, i just heard it from youtube amd it sounds ok. The only thing i need to improve is the fuel delivery, i can feel the accelerration in different bandwith is not all good, at its ok at 30mph but seems rough at 45. I dunno how reliable SU carbs are and how long can it stay tuned after you tune it right the first time. If you remember i replaced my old waxtat jet with a new one and used my old needle whiich is the AAC. I better put the waxtat back but the tube attached to it is wacked. Im off for 3days and im doing a project in the garage, will do lots of welding. As ibe said , i think 998 is not bad , its good in gas and its powerful too, cant complain.
